The Science Tunnel which ran 1000' from the end of the habitable part of the station and housed the gravity, geomag, and seismic instruments.
These never before seen pictures by the w-o crew of 1971 shows what lies at the end of the Science Tunnel. This is where Gary "super-sarp" aquired his nickname as he "dashed down the tunnel in his red hoodie" The nickname came from Doc Kealey and Kevin Gallen. On the left are the magnetometers and the on the right the seismometers

The emergency evacuation shelters
The front of the station from the aurora dome. The roof in the foreground is a false roof above the a barracks. The snow was crushing the barracks and galley and causing leaks. The roof of the galley was also dug out and a new "false roof" was built above it. Several buildings had to be repaired in this way. The weather balloon radar dome is in the center. You can see the air strip and station entrance in the far backround.
The generator shack and supply tunnel for the station
The old entrance became buried, so the CBs constructed a new entrance and sign. Most of the work was done by Kevin Gallen and USN Builder, Harry Heverly. Notice the Deck on the top of the entrance!
